Paris is a city where you can never be bored. There is so much beauty, history and fun to be had. Here is a list of some great things to see and do in the city of lights.
1. Go up the Eiffel Tower
This is a cliché for a reason. It is the very heart of Paris, and the highlight of any trip! I recommend going up it during the daytime so you can see the whole of Paris laid out in the daylight. The Eiffel Tower is magical at night, so take a trip there when it’s dark too and look up at the Eiffel Tower all lit up!
2. Spend an evening at the Moulin Rouge
The red windmill! Famous for cancan dancers, the Moulin Rouge guarantees you a night of cheeky fun. Whilst on the expensive side, you get dinner , a show and a great memory.
3. Go up the Arc de Triomphe at night
It isn’t too expensive to go up the Arc de Triomphe, and you’ll get great views all down the Champs de Elysees! See Paris lit up at night, especially the Eiffel Tower on the horizon!
4. Take a river boat cruise down the River Seine
Relax on a boat and take in the sights of Paris from the water. It’s a lovely way to see the city, and saves your feet from aching!
5. Look inside the Notre Dame
Get there early to avoid queues, and get into the Notre Dame to look at the beautiful interior. The outside is magnificent too, with so many ornate carvings and gargoyles.
6. Eat at a pavement café
Parisians eat at outside tables when it’s sunny. Join them and people watch while you eat!
7. Shop down the Champs de Elysees
This road is very long and packed full of shops, cafes and restaurants. It leads all the way up to the Arc de Triomphe, so it is in a great location. Tree-lined and full of people, it’s a great place to go for some buzz.
8. Relax in the Jardin de Luxembourg
These gardens are a little way form the Notre Dame, and are a lovely spot to sit and relax among the plants, or have a picnic.
9. Visit the Sacre Coeur
The Sacre Coeur basilica is beautiful inside and out – it’s free to go in, so take advantage! Although you’re not allowed to take photos inside the building, you can take as many as you like outside! And you’ll want to, because the white domed Sacre Coeur is as beautiful as the view of Paris from its hillside location.
10. Drink some French wine
France is famous for it’s vino, so have a tipple or two while you’re there!
11. Be cultured at the Louvre
Aside from being iconic with it’s glass pyramid outside, the Louvre is a great place for art lovers. See the famous Mona Lisa, as well as all manner of great works of art and sculptures.
12. Make your own perfume at Les Studio des Parfums
A very sophisticated experience, learn to make a scent that is uniquely you.
13. Walk over Paris’s beautiful bridges
The beautiful architecture in Paris extends to it’s bridges. Sadly, you’re no longer allowed to put a padlock on Pont des Arts as a symbol of love, but you’re still allowed to take in the lovely bridges.
14. Day trip
The most popular tourist attraction in Paris isn’t the Eiffel Tower – it’s Disneyland Paris! Conveniently located just outside Paris, it’s a perfect place for a magical day. If that’s not your thing, check out the Palace of Versailles – the last court of King Louis XV1. The ornate architecture, interiors and gardens will make you feel like royalty.
15. Go to a patisserie
French pastries are delicious – go for a croissant, pain au chocolate or macaroon! Sugar doesn’t count when you’re on holiday.
16. Palais Royal
Built in 1629, this is a beautiful building with a lot of history! Although the actual palace isn’t open to the public, you can visit the courtyard and gardens – perfect on a sunny day.
